The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) sets skills, standards and qualifications for Great Britain's engineering construction workforce and is led by employers. An arm's-length body of the UK Government answerable to the Department for Work and Pensions, it covers companies that design, build and decommission process and energy infrastructure in sectors such as nuclear, renewables, water, chemicals and oil and gas. Each year about 40,000 people take an ECITB test or course through more than 200 approved training providers. From Kings Langley in Hertfordshire the organisation also runs apprenticeship pathways, project management programmes and the CCNSG Safety Passport.
